Pinned FeaturedSOME SIMPLE TECHNICAL TIPS TO RESOLVE THOSE SIMPLE ISSUES PART 1...
Maybe there is no video or power - well this guide might be worth a try. Follow the STEP's below to see how simple the issue may really be!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
STEP 1 There is no video showing on the monitor?
Try to move the mouse or press any key on the Keyboard - typically systems will go into Standby or Sleep mode which causes the no video or black screen state. If there is video, great! If nothing happens, go to STEP 2:
STEP 2 There might not be any power to the system?
Check to see if there are any lights on, blinking etc. or maybe listen to check for any noise(s) coming from the tower. If not, try to press the power button on the machine and continue to listen for the machine to startup or is there is any activity on the monitor afterwards. If the power has fixed this issue, you may return to STEP 1 or EXIT. If nothing, continue on to STEP 3:
STEP 3 Still no power to the system?
This will possibly require getting your knees dirty, but it's worth the look! Check to see if any portion of the power cables have come unplugged from the wall outlet(s) or check to see if the oulet has a GFI breaker - this may need to be reset by pressing in the raised side and resetting the opposite side, usually red/blk buttons art present on the wall plate signifying a GFI breaker is present. If a Surge Protector exists, ensure it is plugged in, powered on (usually a rocker type button) and all products are plugged in to it as well. Still no power, stop at this point, report it to a direct line supervisor for a second attempt to resolve by use of these steps and to have a Ticket placed to MIS and Maintenance. If there is power, and all products are powered on, proceed to STEP 4:
STEP 4 Computer is on, monitor shows power where light is on but the color does not appear normal?
Amber = solid or flashing, typically a bad monitor, display board or power...advise direct line supervisor for a Ticket to be replaced along with a phone call to MIS for an immediate replacement to be shipped on next business day if one is available. Green = bright is good power and on, generally condition of monitor also is okay ; If the light is green and/or may be faded, read on at STEP 5:
STEP 5 Confirm VGA or DVI cable connection is good between monitor and tower?
There is a cable that connects between the monitor and the tower. The type or color doesn't matter, however, the typical one CFFHC has used is the VGA type, generally black with two blue ends. If it is a DVI, our common color for those will be black with two white ends. First check the cables connection at the monitor - back side. If it wiggles or pulls out, reconnect it and watch the monitor to see if problem is resolved. If bnot, follow to the opposite end and check the connection to the tower and repeat check method. If this fails to resolve video, shake and move cable around to see if there is any flashing of video across the screen. If it flashes, request for a cable changeout by placing a ticket through the supervisor. If all connections appeared to be good, request Charge Nurse or Center Manager to make one more attempt to resolve the issue by following these same steps. At this point, place a ticket to MIS for a final check and a possible computer tower test/or replacement.
